THE NEW STEAMER NAIRANA

The new Huddart-Parker steamer Nairana, now building at Dumbarton, will be a fast passenger boat, and has been designed to run in conjunction with, the steamer Loongana, in the Melbourne-Tasmaniau trade, in terms of the new contract entered into with tbe Commonwealth Government. The new steamer will be replete with all the most modern appliances for the safety and comfort of passengers, and will be equipped with water tube boilers and, geared turbines. Nairana is the aboriginal name for eagle.

DEVON LEAVES SYDNEY

En route from Liverpool the liner Devon left Sydney yesterday for Auckland, where she is due on Sunday or Monday next. She will arrive at Wellington about a week later
