During the hearing of a case at the Supreme Court this morning a witness gave a good deal of trouble by reason of the fact that his replies to questions were almost inaudible. He was remonstrated with several times by his Honour Mr. Justice Chapman, who finally said sternly to the witness: "When a man persistently refuses to speak up his evidence is liable to come under suspicion, and it might be thought that he is keeping something back. Now, will you take my .final warning and1 speak up?" The success of the classes is due to the practical experience of Mr. Davis, who was-for over 30 years ColourSergeant of the City Rifles, during which time ho won over 50 military competitions in various parts of Now Zealand.
