RUSSIAN SUCCESSES
1 THE GALICIAN ADVANCE FURTHER. POSITIONS OCCUPIED. (Received August 17, 12.45 p.m.) LONDON, 16th August. A .Russian communique states : We occupied some ,places west of the Zlota Li pa, the enemy counter-attacks checking our further advance. Our troops are fighting forward between the mouth of the Zlota Li pa and'the Dniester. Despite a desperate resistance, we occupied two towns upon the Bystritza. Onr pressure in the Delatyn and Voroksta regions is compelling the enemy to retire westward. We captured a series of heights and frustrated enemy attempts to resume the offensive in the region of the Kapul mountains. v
