ROSAMOND DAMAGED
The Hawkes Bay Herald of yesterday's date reports that at 11 a.m. on Monday, when: Mia Kosamond was berthing at the Glasgow Wharf, Napier, she came into collision with the front portion of the wharf. . About Bft .of, the wharf was smashed in, large totara postsbeing split almost to matchwood. The vessel escaped with much less damage, mainly owing to the anchor taking the main force of the. blow, although the points of the anchor pierced the plates on the bow. A number of meu from Messrs. J. J. Niven and Co. were soon engaged in doing temporary repairs. In the afternoon she went into the inner harbour to complete discharge. .
Tlie Northern Company's steamer Taniwha met with an accident on Saturday night in the Paeroa ltiver while on her return trip from Paeroa to Auckland. By some means she struck a corner of the bridge, and the impact carried away a portion of the vessel's bridge and railing on the starboard side, the wheelhouse being also smashed. The Taniwha has been temporarily withdrawn from service
