LICENSING MATTERS
TO.THE BDITOR.
Sir,—ln The Post of the Ist inst. a correspondent, " A.F.," appears to innocently accept the unsupported' state-. meat of Mr. Armstrong that " only vodka, is forbidden" in Bussia. A similar statement has been, for obvious reasons, circulated by another correspondent. 'As both these champions have in view the protection of the. liquor traffic, I usually pay little attention^ to what they say. But as other readers besides "A.F." may be misled, I will quote a few lines froml J. S. Dane in the Daily Chronicle of December last. Mr. Dane says :—" I, have returned recently from a trip through Russia and Siberia. I can x>ositively state, that in no hotel, club, or shop can any spirits, wine, or beer of any kind whatever be obtained. There is an impression in Great Britain that the Bussian interdict only applies to vodka, but I can assure you that it applies to every form of alcoholic liquors.'' —I am,' etc.,
