Mr. S. G. Cooper, manager of" the Queensland Insurance Company at Dunedin, has enlisted. His successor is Mr. W.. G. Compton, of Invercargill.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Orr, of Feather-ston-terrace, who were the first couple married in St. i Paul's" Pro-Cathedral, celebrated their golden wedding, to-day.

Mr. Hugh Kenyon, of Thorpe, Nelson, died on Monday. He was born in Scotland in 1833, and came out to Australia in the early 'fifties, settling in the Nelson district in 1861.

Mr. John Fuller, jun., will leave for Australia this evening. Last night a number of his friends and the employees of the New Zealand Picture Supplies, Ltd., to the number of about 200, bade him farewell at The King's.Theatre. Mr. E. J. Righton, managing-director of the Picture Supplies, Ltd., presented Mr. Fuller with a sovereign case. He said that it had been the desire of the recipient to slip away quietly and unostentatiously, but it was generallyfelt that such a wish could not b« gratified. It had been rumoured that Mr Fuller was going to Australia _> interest himself in vaudeville. He was certainly going to engage in new work,-, but it was on behalf of the New Zealand Picture Supplies. Mrl Fuller said he was going to Australia to embark upon business which would give him a greater scope. He thanked the staff heartily for the present. His health was enthusiatically toasted. The Auck-. land staff was present in "film form," a picture taken at the , residence of Mr. Harry Hayward being shown.

A private cable message from London, received in Wellington, announces the death at Eastbourne, England, on Tuesday last, of Mr. Malcolm Macpherson, formerly general manager of the NewZealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd. The deceased gentleman, who was over seventy years of age, was born in Scotland, and after the death of his father he settled in Canada, first of all becoming iv school teacher, and subsequently following mercantile pursuits. He came out to New Zealand a great many years ago, and was in partnership with his late brother (Mr. J. Drummond Macpherson) in the ownership of a sheep station in Canterbury. Later on he joined Messrs. Peter Cunningham and Co., Christchurch, and while with that firm was appointed (1895) general manager of the Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.,»a position which he retained until April, 1905. He then' went to live in England, but had since paid a visit to New Zealand 'and Canada. The deceased gentleman, who was everywhere held in the highest esteem, has left a widow but no children. He was an, enthusiastic golf and tennis player almost up to the day of, his death. His only, relative in the Dominion is a nephew. Mr. C. H. F.
