AN EXHAUSTIVE INVESTIGATION.
At the time that these notes appear the Arbitration Court will have concluded its hearing of the drivers' dispute. The case has been heard in all four centres, and has been the subject of thorough investigation and exhaustive argument. Apart, from its interest for drivers, the dispute has attracted much attention in view of the thoroughness with which the parties have dealt with broad general questions. In Wellington, Mi-. A. Parlane, Wellington representative, dealt with the cost of living, and wage increases, referring particularly to the disadvantages to which Wellington workers are subject, chiefly owing to the high, rents in this city. Mr. Pryor, representing the employers, submitted aji interesting array of facts and figures in Christchurch to prove his contention that wages had advanced to such' an extent' as to leave the workers in a much better position than formerly, even if war increases were taken into account.
