POSITION IN GREECE ACTIVITY OF PRO-GERMANS

"PATIENCE HAS ITS LIMITS" LOXDON, 15th June. The Daily Chronicle's Paris correspondent says that the news from Greece is unsatisfactory. M. Skouloudis (the Greek Premier) is not attempting to preserve a prudent, or becoming attitude towards the Entente. Tlje pro-Germans are organising a demonstration, with the assent of the police, against the Allied Legations, with the object not merely of general annoyance, but to obtain an'excuse for the proclamation of martial law, which would enable the Venizelists to be prosecuted. Offensive films, which arc the product of tho German propaganda, are being shown at the kinemas. Members of the Government 'do not trouble to deny theiv complicity with the enemy. England ha 3 hitherto been reluctant to proceed with positive measures, but patience has its limits. INBULTINC'THE ALLIES. LONDON.. 16th June. Owing to the censorship at Athens it is impossible to gauge the situation. Letters, however, show that the Greek police have permitted disgraceful demonstrations against the Entente. Hundreds of ruffians, under the Government's secret police agents, paraded the streets, insulting British and Frenchmen, and smashing the offices of the pro-Ally newspapers. A review was given in an Athens theatre depicting drunken Allied soldiers flying from tho. Bulgarians and Germans. Letters show that the vast majority of the Greeks. will welcome any measures the Entente cares to take against Greece, in order to rid her of tho present Government, which is utterly regardless of the Constitution. MERCHANT VESSELS DETAINED. (Received June 17, 9.30 a.m.) ATHENS, 16th June. Seventy merchant vessels are detained at Piraeus owing to the Allies' restrictions. Vessels are allowed to leave Mitylene for any destination except Kavalla, in view of the proximity of this port to Bulgaria.
