PLATEAU
PILES OF AUSTRIAN DEAD.
The High Commissioner reports : — LONDON, 16th June, 3.25 p.m. Yesterday, between the Adige and the Brenta, the enemy made fruitless and costly efforts to break down our resistance.
At Lagarina. Valky, on the night of the 15th, the enemy attempted a surprise at Serravalle and on Couizgna* After three hours' severe fighting the enemy fled.
On the Posina-Astico front, after an enemy night attack on Campiglio, there was a bombardment on both sides.
-' On the Asiago plateau the enemy, with an estimated strength of eighteen battalions, attacked between Mounts Pari and Lemerele, but oiir curtain firebroke down the attack, the enemy leaving piles of dead.
