THE SUDAN AFFAIR
COMPLETE VICTORY AFFIRMED
TRIBESMEN BEING DISARMED.
(Received May 31, 9.40 a.m.) LONDON, 30th May. Official: Further report . confirms the completeness of the victory over Sultan Darfur. All the Sultan's best troops and commanders participated. Most of the latter have been accounted for or surrendered. The disarmament of the tribesmen is proceeding satisfactorily. Several thousand rifles and much ammunition were surrendered. Our aeroplanes the day after the battle bombed a large body fleeing from- El Fasher with the Sultan,'-"'AU Din Ar. The latter, when last seen, had only 300 followers. They are facing, a. 36 hours' journey over a watei'less -desert towards Gebel Marra.
