Captain H. C. Collett, instructor to the Waipawa branch of the National Reserve since its inception, was presented by the members with a pair of prismatic binoculars on his leaving to go into training for active service.
News lias been received' that Lieut. Charles Lawrence Wardrop (son of .Mr. J. H. W. Wardrop, of the Lands Department. Wellington), who left with the Ist Battalion of the Ritto Brigade, has been promoted to the rank of captain.
Sergt. E. J. Carey, who is attached to the 13th Reinforcements, was on Saturday presented by tho dining-room stuff of Uie Koy.il Oak Hotel with a sextoblade razor in recognition of his work while secretary of the Hotel Workers' Union,
