J. J. Hatch, railway surfaceman employed on the . permanent way for the past three years, was killed to-day while working at the sleepers through a shunting truck passing over him at Wakefieldstreet level crossing. Deceased was a married man, about thirty years of age. Ganger Manners, who was working with him,' got off with slight abrasions.
