GIRL BURGLARS.

"An extraordinary state of affaire," said Mr. Bishop, S.M., when two girls, aged seventeen and nineteen, were charged with burglary at a house in St. Albajis.

The girls gave false names, their real names being Winifred White and Gertrude Anderson.

Chief Detective Herbert, in applying for a remand, said the girls came from Dunedin, and took a house at Sydenham, partly furnishing it. They did no work, and took part in various burglaries in the suburbs. ■ They had broken in with axes and shoveta, taking what they could. The younger girl was under the control of the elder. They were wanted on similar charges at Mosgiel. Accused were remanded until Monday week.
