LODGES AND DOCTORS
.With regard to the dispute between the friendly societies and the doctors, it is stated that a special meeting of the AVellington division of the British Medical Association is to be held at an early . date, for : the purpose of. considering the proposals of the Minister of Internal Affairs, (Hon, G. ■W. Russell) for a change of the basis of payment from " per member " to " per visit." The Minister informed a Post reporter to-day that lie had received from various parts of New Zealand recommendations from friendly societies urging that such a basis of agreement should, if possible,' be agreed upon. It will be remembered that- at the conference with the associa-' tion and the Minister it was stated that the payments made' by lodge members in the. past represented lOd per visit, and as.this rate of payment existed for many years, the Minister is hopeful that there ■nay be a possibility of some satisfactory basis being agreed upon.
