Dr. E. W. Sharman, of Auckland, who has been in charge of the medical services at the Rangiotu Camp for some time past, has been appointed principal medical officer of a transport. The rank of major has been conferred upon him.
Information has been received in Wellington that Lieut,.-Col. J. Gethin Hughes. D.5.0., C.M.G. (son-in-law of Mr. Robert O'Connor, of Tlie Terrace), is expected ,to return to New Zealand about the end of next month. Colonel Hughes went away as staff" officer to Major-General Sir Alex. Godley, • Main Body, and was afterwards placed in command of the Canterbury Battalion. He was invalided to England, and only recently came out of hospital there after four months' treatment. His name appears in a recent Court Circular giving a list of those officers who. appeared before the King for the investiture of tfrii OHws into 'n-hinh thojr .had been aoiiytitad.
