Tlie regulations governing the recent classification of the certificated primary school teachers of the Dominion are to be gazetted shortly. The Minister of Education (Hon. J. A. Ha.nan), the Director of Education (Dr. W. J. Anderson), and the Assistant-Director (Jlr. J. Caughley) haw devoted a,- great deal of time and care to the working out of a scheme designed to grade the teachers in a real order of merit, and the Minister is of opinion that it will ensure in time that the most capable teachers are placed in the most important positions.

DE_gtS_ AN APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC The above Societies have combined for the purpose of rendering aid to the Sick and Wounded during the War. We are urgently in need of funds, and gifts of all kinds, serviceable for use in Military Hospitals and Field Ambulances. JUST REMEMBER we are making this appeal to the General Public on behalf of our BOYS and ALLIES, to assist them all when in need of help. We sincerely trust the Public will subscribe to this fund generously and promptly. SUBSCRIBERS to the Ladies' Fund should continue as before. Sewing will be given out at the. depot to all ladies who are prepared to work, and continue working, in their homes for this great cause. The Trustees of the Fund are:—The Hon. C. J. Johnston, the Hon. J. G. W. Aitken, and Joseph Joseph, Esq. (Treasurer). All subscriptions may be despatched direct to the Treasurer at his office, Government Insurance Buildings, Wellington. The Central Depot is established at 4 Mercer Street (opposite the Town Hall), where all farther enquiries can be made and information will be given upon application to the undersigned. ' J, W.
