It is expected that she will be despatched about Tuesday TITRAKIN A REPORTED The New Zealand Shipping Company's local office has been advised that the Turakina, which left Auckland on the 11th November for London via ports, reached Monte Video last Wednesday MAITAI FROM SAN FRANCISCO The Maitai, from San Francisco, via Papeete and Itarofcouga, put in an appearance shortly after 10 o'clock, and berthed at Queen's Wharf Clearing San Francisco at noon on the 10th November the vessel reached Papeete twelve days later, and continued her journey the following day. llarotonga was reached at 2.30 p m on the 25th November, and after loading a large quantity of fruit the Maitai sailed the same day for Wellington. Fine weather prevailed for the latter part of the journcv. An excellent steaming performance was put up by the Maitai over the lost 109 miles, the vessel taking seven hours to cover the distance The Maitai brought 000 tons of car"o for discharge at Wellington, wh».e she also has on board a. quantity of Sydney cargo for transhipment to the Manuka. Due here on Monday she sails the same day for Lyttelton, and will return here and" sail on Thursday for Sydney and Hobart STAR OF SCOTLAND SAILS At daybreak this morning the liner Star of Scotland cleared thi3 port for London, via Las Palmas, with a full cargo of New Zealand produce on board NEWS OF WALKURE Apparently the American firm which has undertaken the contract for raising the exGerman steamer Walkure, sunk at Papeete by ment of the war, is making speedy progress. The Maitai, which arrived from San Francisco yesterday, brought news of the Walkure, which is stated to have remained on an even keel, with her funnel and part of the bridge showing above water. While the Maitai was at Papeete all preparations were being made for raising the vessel, and it was anticipated by the owners that the work would be completed .by the end of the year, and the vessel would be taken to Sau Francisco for repairs. It was stated that the owners were so certain of success that they had already accepted a charter for the vessel PERSONAL Captain F. Tellick, master of the steamer John, has been appointed to the command of the barque Antiope, which was recently acquired by a Dunedin firm, and is at present undergoing an extensive overhaul preparatory to being handed over to her new owners Mr. F. G. Edge, late of the Tarawera is to join the Mokoia as chief officer, and Mr. G W Evans, acting 6econd officer, will transfer to the hospital ship Marama in a similar capacity
