NEW CAR BARN
The City Council is considering tenders for the new car barn, to be erected at South Kilbirnie. The council has a site of three acres at the corner of One-pu-road and the Miramar Main road. Provision is to be made to house some forty-eight cars. At present there are twenty cars for which there is no covered accommodation. The council's car sheds at Newtown .and Thorndon are not sufficient to take all the cars now built, to say nothing of the additional cars that are necessary to bring the service up to the requirements of the traffic, especially during rush hours. 'The opening of the Constabie-stroet extension (a work most urgently needed for tile summer trade) is now" delayed only for the copper wire and other "requisites, overdue, from the British manufacturer*. The rails are all laid, in duplicate, to Kilbirnie. and duplications on the Kilbirnie line itself, "have now been completed. „
