At the Newmarket Second October Meeting, the following was the result of the race for the Cesarewitch Stakes, a handicap of £25 each, £10 ft. with £500 added. Cesarewitch course (two miles and a quarter). Sir A. Bailey's Son-in-Law, br c, by Dark Ronald — Mother -in-Law ... 1 Mr. Reid Walker's Eau Claire, br f, by i Torpoint — St. Claire 2 Mr. L. Neumann's Snow Marten, b f, by Martagon — Siberia 3 Won by half a length. There were 31 i miners, the largest field since 1875. F. Bullock rode Son-in-law. He used the new expanding girth, recently introduced in Australia.
