CHARGE OF ASSAULT
♦ Yesterday, at Petone, before Messrs. Coles and J. W. M'Ewan, Justices of the Peace, George Little was charged with assaulting Charles Bugler, with intent to do him. grievous bodily harm. Sir. P W. Jackson appeared for Little, and after hearing evidence of Dr. Harding, A. ■ It. Aldred, E. Edlin, Constable Canning, and one other, it was decided to reduce the charge to one of common assault. Littl© -was fined £3 and witnesses's expenses (£1 19s), in default to undergo fourteen days' imprisonment. He was allowed three months in which to pay the money A counter-claim for asI sault was lodged against Bugler, but no evidence was taken.
