THE DAMAGE TO THE WIMMERA'S CARGO

Though the damage caused to the Wimmera's cargo by the outbreak of fire during the vessel's voyage- from Melbourne is not of a very serious nature, it is more extensive than was at first anticipated. The, examination of the contents of No. 4 hold by Captain E. B. Atwood, marine surveyor, was practically completed .to-day, and it was ascertained that the damage was mostly confined to rubber goods, such as hose and tires. The fire itself did very little real harm, most of the damage being caused by smoke and water. The Wimmera is timed to sail for Hobart and Melbourne at 5 o'clock this evening.
