NATIONAL RESERVE
As the weather was unsuitable for outdoor work last week's parade of B" Company (Wellington East), Ist Regt., was held in the Clyde-quay School. The officers put the company through aiming and firing exercises, and excellent progress was shown. A shooting match was held with the Customhouse Rifle Club at the Customhouse range on the 6th lnst., ten men a-side. B Company competitors used service rifles and Morris tubes, fitted with aperture backsight, blade foresight, and no slings. The other competitors were equipped with miniature range rifles, fitted with aperture, backsight, ring foresight, and slings. The Customhouse Club averaged 64.6, and B Company 56.6. For the Company, the highest scores were made by Sergt. R. Taylor, Sergt.-Major Neal, Pte. Godber, and Cpl. E. Rising.
