THE CALL
The following verses have been forwarded to The Post from a sergeant in the fighting line on Gallipoli : — Rouse up, brother, be a hero, Join New Zealand's gallant band: Gallant band of fighting heroes; Come with us and make a stand. Rouse up, brother, do not linger. You are wanted, now — out here; Come and let us strike together; Show the world you do not fear. House up, brother, you are wanted, Lift your head, and shoulder gunj Come and let us fight for Justice, ' Be a brave New Zealand's son. Rouse up, brother, we are fighting, And our line is getting thinj Come my brother, cease your toiling, Come and help your brother win. Rouse up, brother, wej the wounded, Ask of you to take revenge ; Do you spurn the call of dying? Come, my brother and — avenge. Rouse up, brother, think of comrades, Lying now beneath the sod; They were brave and gallant soldiers, i Follow on the path they trod. Rouse up, brothers, don't be shirkers, All your comrades call for you : Until we fall we'll do our duty, I Come, we leave the rest to you. Rouse up, brother, be a hero, Join New Zealand's gallant band, Gallant band of fighting heroes; Come with us and make a stand. — G.B.M.
