THE NAVY LEAGUE
TRAFALGAR CELEBRATION. A meeting of the local executive of the Navy League was held last night, attended by Mr. J. B. Harcourt (president), Messrs. A. H. Miles, D. M'Kellar, C. R. Smith, R. Darroch, G. G. Townsend, A. F. Wiren, Major Poison, and Messrs. Wm. Foster (chairman of Headmasters' Association) and C. W. Palmer (secretary). The names of Mr. C. B. Morison, K.C., and Mr.. .Alfred Atkins, F.R..1.8.A., were added to the Executive Committee. It was resolved, subject to the donors' approval, to devote the money promised for the machine-gun fund to the sailors' comforts fund. It was also decided to allocate 50 per cent, of all school subscriptions received to that fund. Satisfaction was expressed that the Headmasters' Association was warmly supporting the league in its approaching celebration of Trafalgar anniversary. It was reported that matters were well in hand for the celebration. The services of Lieut. D. A Kenny and Messrs. E. J. Hill and Frank Charlton had been secured, as well as the band of the Natives' Association, which had in rehearsal a selection descriptive of life at sea specially chosen for the occasion. The ladies of the league and their friends were to be asked to assist in raising funds for the sailors' comforts by the sale of sweets and flowers during the entertainment. Juvenile members and their parents would have free admission to the gallery. Accounts were passed for payment aggregating £35 Is Bd, including £26 2s 2d remitted to London for 1500 books for school branch members.
