APPLICATION FOR SPECIAL JURY In an action brought by William Bennett, a, freezing works employee, for £1000 damages against the Hawkes Bay Farmers' Meat Company, a special jury was applied for on 24th September by Mr. Hadfield, on behalf of the defendants, on grounds purporting to show that expert knowledge was required, and Mr. P. O'Regan opposed on behalf of the plaintiff. In giving judgment in tie Supremo Court to-day Iris Honour Mr. Justice Chapman said that, having considered all the circumstances, he had come to the conclusion that the defendant had made out grounds showing that expert knowledge was required; and that no sufficient grounds existed for exercising ! his discretion by refusing to grant a special jury. Order accordingly. Messrs. B. J. Dolan and Co. (Napier) were solicitous for the plaintiff, and Messrs. Carlile, M'Lean, Scannell, and «Wood (Napier) were for defendants.
