MR. A. A. BENNETT FAREWELLED
That the services rendered to local hockey by Mr. A. A. Bennett have been recognised and_ appreciated was proved in no uncertain manner last evening, when the late secretary to the local controlling body was farewelled prior to his departure for New Plymouth. In proposing the toast of "Our Guest," the chairman (Mr. J. C. Cusack) paid a warm tribute to the departing secreta/ry, whoso/ loss would be irreparable. Mr. Bennett had guided the destinies of local hockey fox the past five years, and they hardly knew what they would, do without him. After further eulogistic remarks, Mr. Cusack handed Mr. Bennett a handsome suit oase on behalf of the Wellington Association. Mr. A. W. Manning added a few words on behalf of the lady players, and asked Mr. Bennett to accept a small token of their esteem. Various other toasts were honoured, while a number of enjoyable musical items were contributed.
