7th REINFORCEMENTS
NOW ON ACTIVE SERVICE. INSPECTED BY THE GOVERNOR. The 7th Reinforcements, which have now been placed on active service, were inspected by His Excellency the Governor. Lord Liverpool, at Trentham this morning. Drawn up on the main parade ground, the 7ths made a brave showing. The infantry and artillery, who have been longest in training, looked especially well; On His Excellency's arrival, the troops gave the Royal Salute, and the band played the National Anthem. The troops then sloped arms, and His Excellency proceeded to inspect them. The Governor was accompanied by Colonel Gibbon (Chief of Staff), Lieut. - Colonel Potter (Camp Commandant), Capt. Dovey (Camp Adjutant), and Major Macdonald (Staff Infantry Instructor). The movements by the troops were excellently carried out and won the highest opinion of the spectators. Owing to the steady rain th"c proceedings were here terminated and the men returned to their ■hutments.
