PROTECTION OF MEMBERS
MR. HORNSBY'S .BILL. A measure entitled the Protection of Members' Bill is to be introduced by Mr. J. T. M. Hornsby in the House of Representatives before the session closes. It will deal with the whittling away of members' privileges and the reduction of their rights. Mr. Hornsby will contend that the members are being reduced to mere cyphers, in that it does not matter what measure may be brought down, even with a National Cabinet in existence, they are sneered at if they dare to set their reason and judgment against those who bring down^ these measures. The Bill will also deal with personal attacks upon members by £he newspaper press.
