TO THS EDITOR. Sir, — I am sorry to see by this morning's paper that there are several who have given money to the Machine-Gun Fund who are transferring ,it to the Wounded Soldiers. Fund. Now, sir, I think that is a great mistake. We do not want the wounded to be coming back to New Zealand; we 'want more machineguns to smash up the enemy, and save our men at the front. I should very much like the Government to try all they can, and get the machine-guns, say, about three hundred. If they cannot get them why npt try and make them in New Zealand'? I will give one hundred pounds (£lOOl to the man. or company that will start and turn out the first five machine-guns, or I am willing to pay my own passage money to Japan and back if the^ Government will ' give me an order for "three hundred machineguns. The British Vice-Consul (Dr. Aganoor), who is reported in Friday's cablegrams as having been killed in Ispahan, Persia, is a brother-in-law of Mrs. Carew Thomas, of Matarawa, Wanganui, and has been at Ispahan for the last eight or ten years.
