SATURDAYS PARADE

REGULATING THE TRAFFIC. Realising that the presence of so large a body as 5000 soldiers will be in the city, and that their march through will attract An immense crowd on Saturday afternoon, the Mayor has had a conference with Inspector Hendrey, representing the Commissioner of Police ; Captain Cardall, representing the Defence Department ; Captain Hale Munro, representing the Harbour Board ; and Mr. Morton (the City Engineer}, the tramways. The object of the meeting was to ensure i a safe, clear passage for jthe troops, and also for the citizens who Will assemble to look on.. It is understood that the route will be from Government Buildings, along Lambton-quay, Willis•street, Manners-street, to the Bank of New Zealand Corner, then along Cubastreet to Jervois and Waterloo quays. A special area at Waterloo-quay will be set apart for relatives and friends of the soldiers, and entrance to this will be by Queen's Wharf gates. Trams will cease running on the line o F route during the march past, and all other conveyances will be stopped. The Mayor particularly requests the public to keep well back to the proper alignment, so as not to hamper the march of the troops. All should readily cooperate with the police, Territorials, and Cadets in keeping the line free for the soldiers.
