THE LATE KEIR HARDIE

A tribute to the work .done by the late Keir Hardie was paid by the Wellington branch of the Social Democratic Party at a meeting held in the People's Picture Palace on Sunday. Mr. H. E. Holland said that the deceased comrade was one of the few honest politicians that have adorned the Parliament of Great Britain, / and a man who hated, shams and hypocrisies. Mu. P. H. Hickey said that Keir Hardie had lived and died true to his principles. Mr. P. C. Webb said that if there were a few more Hardies in the Parliament of New Zealand to-day things would be different for the workers of the country. Mrs. Donaldson, and Mr. T. Brindle also eulogised the work of the dead Labour leader. A resolution expressing deep regret at Keir Hardies death, and the loss to the working class movement, and to Mrs. Hardie, was carried unanimously.
