MAGISTRATE'S COURT
; To-day's sitting of the Magistrate's Court was presided over by Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M. Margaret Carslyle, who was arrested last night for drunkenness, failed to appear, and her bail of 20s was estreated. •. Frederick Millar was fined that amount for insobriety, and four first offenders were convicted and discharged. A youth named George Albert M'Nicholl, an Industrial School boy, who had been, convicted of assault, appeared for sentence. Another charge was read against him, namely, theft of jewellery and money valued at £9, the property of Herbert Charles Foster He pleaded not guilty, and asked for a remand. This was granted for one week. For obstructing the footpath in Torystreet, Walter Lancey Cole was fined ss, with 7s costs. He was given three days to find the money; he applied for three weeks. A light fine, with costs, was imposed upon J. W. M. Harrison for riding a motor bike upon which there was no registeration number. Robert H. Bougton, a small youth, was find 10s for failing to attend drill. A plea of guilty was entered by John Odlin and Company, charged with permitting two horses to wander on The Parade, Island Bay. Defendants were ordered to pay costs (7s). Frederick Rankins was charged that, being the rider of a. motor bike, he failed to stop when warned to do so by the police. He was fined ss, with 7s Court costs. i Before Mr. J. Wakeham, J.P., at the Petone Police Court this morning, James Patrick O'Brien and W. M'Cathy were each convicted and discharged.
