ALLEGED THEFT OF MONEYS
AMENDED CHARGES. (BS TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) DUNEDIN, 29th September. Regarding the charges against Robert Sproule Menzies, late manager of the insurance department of Neill and Co., this afternoon, the Magistrate decided iq amend the 'charges to read tha.t accused, being a servant of Neill and Co., did steal £62 5s 3d and £77 18s od, 'the property of the Union Insurance Society, of Canton and the 'Indemnity Mutual Marine Insurance Company. Accused pleaded guilty, and was committed to the Supreme Court' for sentence. A party of Wellington ladies and gentlemen have for some time past been doing really excellent work by jiving a concert each week to the guard at one or the other of the Wellington forte. In addition to this, the same party at times venture to Trentham and will shortly pay a visit to Tauherenikau. Their only reward for the time and expense which these constant efforts demand is the knowledge that they are affording the soldiers pleasure The. Wellington Orphans' Club vrill hold !i cafe.chantant entertainment in the Town Hall, on Saturday, 9th October.
