A PPLICATIONS are invited from -CjL Youths of not less than 16, nor mpre than 21 years" of age, desirousof appointment as Cadet Draughtsman in the Public Service. v Candidates must have passed either the Public Service Entrance Examination, the Matriculation Examination, or have obtained a "lower leaving certificate" granted in accordance -with Regulations 'under the Education Act, 1914, and will be further required to submit themselves to an examination in Elementary Mathematics and Freehand and Geometrical Drawing unless they have already obtained a pass in these subjects in one or other of the examinations referred, to. In addition, a practical teat will be given to ascertain a candidate's aptitude for draughting work and his ability to draw some simple engineering detail from a sketch. Anplicationa will require to be made m writing, on special forms, which may be obtained from the Public 'Works Department, at one of the Examining Centres named below, or from the undersigned, and will be received up till noon on the 23rd OCTOBER, 1915. If necessary an examination will be held ,at Auckland, Napier, Gisborne, New Plymouth, Wellington, Blenheim, Nelson, Hokitika, Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill. Salary £50 per annum to commence, with annual increments according to scale. Lodging allowance will be paid m cases where successful candidate is required to reside away from home. Salary will be considered in connection with present salary in the case of Cadets appointed from within the .Service. Appointment will be subject to the< Public Service Act, 1912. P.
