Rim«taka, which arrived here on Saturday afternoon from London, commencea her long voyage on the 24th July, calling at Plymouth the tollowing day to embark passengers. The run to Capetown was favoured bj fine weather. In the Southern Ocean, however, strong northerly a.nd north-westerly winds, increasing to gales, together with much rain, hail, snow, and sleet, were encountered. Ne?rly 1200 tons of cargo was discharged at Hobart, ofter which the Hner continued her voyage on Monday evening. Moderate to fine weather was experienced oii the run across the Tasmaa Sea. Captain F. Arawa arrived at Hobart yesterday. It is expected that she will continue her voyage this evening or to-morrow morning, being due here on Saturday next DUE AT LONDON The Athenic which left Wellington for' London on the 6th August, and which called at Monte Video on the 28th, was due at her destination on Saturday. The Corinthlc, which left Wellington for the Home port on the 10th August, is due there on Wednesday; and the Delphic, from New Zealand ports, was due at London to-day HINEMOA'S TRIP Continuing her periodical visit to the southern lighthouses, the Government steamer Hinemoa, in charge of Captain Bol'^as, arrived back in Wellington at midday on Saturday. Fine weather was met with as far as Puysegur Point, when northerly gales and continuous rain prevailed till the vessel's arrival at Westport. It was found impossible to land stores at Kahurangi Point lighthouse owing to a strong westerly gale., The Hinemoa delayed her, departure till 4 a.m. on Friday, but as the weather conditions did not abate, departure was taken for Cook Strait. The Brothers was visited, and the Jackson Head light, which has caused much trouble in the past, was readjusted and relighted. The Hinemoa will leave to-morrow morning to land a new keeper at Pencarrow, to erect a beacon at Astrolove, and inspect the buoys at the Beef Barrels. Another effort will be made to land at Kahurangi Point lighthouse PERSONAL Mr. J. Nicholson, late of the Whakatane, is now chief engineer of the Rimutaka. Mr ■T. W. Taylor, fifth engineer, was formerly on the Turakina, as also was the surgeon (Dr. E. A. Graham). Mr D. M. Evans, of the KaiKOura, joined the Rimutaka at London this trip as chief steward Mr G.
