LOSS OF TURKISH WARSHIP
IS IT THE GOEBEN OR BRESLAU? (Received August- 13, 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, 12th August. It is surmised in naval circles that the announcement that the Turkish battleship Haireddin Barbarosse was lost is intended to cover the more serious loss of either the Goeben or the Breslau. (Received August 13, 2 p.m.) LONDON, 12th August. The Admiralty announces : British sub. marines sank a Turkish battleship at the entrance of the Sea of Marmora on Sunday, and torpedoed the gunboat Berk-i-Satvet and an empty transport in the Dardanelles. The Turks state that the battleship was a Barbarossa.
