TAXATION PROPOSALS
Manawtu put forward a remit at the annual conference of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture yesterday that the council again approach the Government with a request to introduce legislation for the exempting 1 of A. and P. Association grounds from local bodies taxation. Mr. G. Hunter, M.P., suggested that this was a most inopportune time for A. and P. Associations, representing ' the people who could afford to pay, to ask for exemption from taxation. His remarks met with approval, and though the mover of the remit stated that local bodies taxation only was referred to, the motion was negatived.
