7th REINFORCEMENTS— A QUERY
TO THS EDITOR. Sir,— Could you tell us the reason why there were only two men taken from Levin for the 7th Reinforcements, one of whom had only been signed on three weeks, while men who enlisted five weeks and two months ago were passed over? For other reinforcements there at least six men have gone from here. We would like to know if you can tell us the reason why our quota has been cut down. — We are. etc., ' LEVIN RECRUITS. [The matter is governed by what branch of the service the men signified, their preference for. The procedure laid down by the Department is to call up recruits strictly in order of rotation of registration. If, however, a man selects a unit ' for which there are a large number of applicants, it may happen that a man who registered later for a less popular unit may be called up before him. Men stating a preference for a particular arm of the service are only called up for that arm.]
