TRIPLE MURDER CHARGE
THE AVARICIOUSNESS OF SMITH. (Received June 28, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 27th June. Evidence given at the trial of Smith, charged with triple wife-murder in connection with the death of Alice Burn- ' ham, showed that Smith wrote to the North British Mercantile Company demanding half the commission paid to the agent. The company repaid the amount, but was surprised at Smith raising the question of a paltry fifty shillings when the company had paid in full £500 and a bonus of £6 a week after the insur- | ance was granted.
