INDIAN WHEAT FOR BRITAIN
REMARKABLY SUCCESSFUL DEAL. PROFIT OJ SEVERAL MILLIONS. (Received June 28, 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, 27th June. A writer in the Observer says : — The Government's, deal in Indian wheat has been remarkably successful. The shipments to Brltaih are virtually only the surplus. Without heavily burdening local consumers it has avoided dislocation by employing the usual wheat exporting firms. The profits will bo sewral millions. The wheat delivered to Britain costs the Indian Government 50s per quarter. The feurplus revenue will be earmarked for the development' of agriculture. Six million acres last under cotton are now under wheat, and a bumper crop will be reaped.
