CEOSS-COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIP. (By Telegraph.— Press Association.— Copyright.*, SYDNEY, 27th June. The Five Miles Novice Cross-Country ChampionFhip was won by P. Bland, in 26min. 55scc. It is stated that the course was somewhat short. MID-WINTER SWIMMING The annual mid-winter handicap under the auspices of the Wellington Swiinming Club was' held at Te Aro Baths during the week-end. The distance was 50 yards, and there was an excellent "field" of 13. The result was:— W. Waters, Msec, 1; V. Willeston 16sec, 2; J. Elton, 13sec, 3. Also started — W. Linden, scr; E. Levy, lseo; K.
