THE CORONATION

ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-NIGHT. The great event of the Carnival will be tho coronation in the Town Hall to-night. "Professor" Cardston has arranged the ceremony on the lines of a genuine coronation, omitting only the religious portion. There will be a grand parade round the aisles and stairs of the Town Hall, tho crowning, the address from the throne, the knighting of citizens, and musical items. Mr. H. G. Hill, as Lord High Chamberlain, will crown the queen-elect. Mrs. James Hannah will be Mistress of the Robes, Mr. W. J. 'Meredith Lord High Chancellor, and "Professor"' Cardston Master of Ceremonies. There will be numerous other officers of state, including heralds, bearers of the royal insignia, pages, canopy bearers, and others. The unsuccessful queen candidates will be maids of honour. The dresses and costumes of the -principal participants will be in keeping with the grandeur of the ceremony. The decoration of the Town Hall will also' be gorgeous. The colours used are crimson and gold in long streamers from the central chandelier and festoons from the gallery. Numerous electric lights will mako the night scene a brilliant one. The coronation chair, on the Westminster model, will stand on a golden throne, with a golden crown overhead, and streamers of red and gold, backed by a golden wall, and two massive pillars. Mr. E. J. Doddreli, chairman of the decoration committee, is supervising these arrangements.
