HOSPITAL LAUNCH AWHINA

— ■» FORMALLY TAKEN OVER. A very interesting ceremony took place early this week, when the motor-boat Awhina, presented by the New Zealand Power Boat Association, was taken from the railway truck which had brought it down from Auckland und placed in the water. It is interesting to ; note that all labour was supplied free ' of charge by the boat-building members of the New Zealand Power-boat Association. Other members of this association took upon themselves to BUpply, free of charge, the necessary fittings in order to completely equip and fit out the hospital launch. The vessel was handed over by Mr. C. H. Palmer and Mr. A. Burt, who represented tho Auckland Motor Power Boat Association and Motor Service Corps, and was formally taken over on behalf of the Government by Brigadier-General A. W. Robin, the Commandant of the New Zealand Forces. On being placed in the harbour the launoh wns driven under her own power by Messrs. Palmer and Burt from the Railway Wharf to the boat harbour* and was steered by Miss Robin.
