BIG DROP IN DRAPERY PRICES. RUSH OF BUYERS TO "THE ECONOMIC."

The announcement that George and Kersley, Ltd., had purchased the entire wholesale warehouse stock* of Mr. John Clouston roused greatest public interest. Since the realisation sale of this stock of general drapery started last Wednesday " The Economic " has been the scene of feverish activity. Hosts of bargain-hunters have attended daily, and purchases have been remarkably heavy. Many small country storekeepers have taken advantage of this sale to replenish their stocks, for it should be noted that the sale prices are very much less than ordinary wholesale rates. A visit to " The Economic " shows that the sale, which is still in progress, covers all departments of the store. Every counter and case is loaded with fashionable and desirable goods. The showroom values are exceptionally attractive. One line of coats calls for special attention. These fine quality garments are in soft coloured tweeds, including a few bright reds. There is a splendid variety of up-to-date shapes in all sizes. At ordinary times these coats would sell for 39s 6d to 49s 6d. George and Kersley's sale price is only 12s lid. Another range of coats in clerical grey and heather mixtures offers equally good value. All the latest shapes are represented, and ,the sale price is only 15s lid. These coats are worth more than double that sum. There are also some surprising bargains in smart costumes and one-piece dresses, charming evening gowns, dressy skirts, dainty Mouses. A large number of handsome coats in soft ponyskin and astrakhan cloths — the latest arrivals in New Zealand — are offered at astonishingly low prices. It is impossible to speak here of all the other bargains, but mention must be made of tho good things shown in the Manchester department. Sale prices I will appeal to the woman who wishes to buy blankets, quUte, sheetings, pillow- ' cases, flannels, towels, damasks, and other items in. the most economical way. The pick of the bargains arc disappearing rapidly, and an early visit on Monday is advisable. — Advt.
