FA ITI^S Especially j as they relate to the Internal' l\ JLf wl Lubrication of the Human System r^OUBTLESS since the World began people have been subject ■L- to fads of one sort or another, both harmless and vicious. Certainly at the present time masses of people are subject to this form of mild insanity. In clothing, food and medicine this form of madness manifests itself, perhaps, more strikingly than in any other way. Nor can it be said that women are more subject to it than men, although women, perhaps, bring it more prominently under notice than men, owing to the exaggerated styles of dress that have a vogue and then pass away. Pick up a photograph five years old, and note the fashions in men's and women's clothes. One wonders how they could deliberately have adopted such styles and gone out in the streets without exciting the ridicule of the public. The reason is because it was the fad of the hour. Again, notice the number of preposterous breakfast foods and other forms of food that are boomed~-»<me person eating a dreadfully unpalatable form of uncooked breakfast oats, imagining he is making strength, muscle, and new tissue ; another following some food fad with the idea it will increase his brain power ; and still another class denying themselves all kinds of food that are really good and tasty because they have the diet fad, and are mad on dieting. So it goes on. Then we come to medicine; where fads come and go faster than- in any other department of life, except, perhaps, in woman's dress. There is no end of these ridiculous medicine fads. The good old remedies that have stood the test of years are suddenly put by whilst the new unknown is tried. If it becomes suddenly the rage, .as some do, it ceases quite as suddenly, and the public again return to the old reliable remedies. At present we have the Liquid Paraffine Fad, and thousands of people are rushing this like they have rushed others before, and they will rush others again ; but there are evidences that the public is finding out that this Liquid Paraffine is a FAD PURE AND SIMPLE, AND NOT A MEDICINE. They are finding out that this Wholesale Lubrication of their internal organs is destroying one of Nature's most vital fluids — the Bile. Nature finds its work, being done by a foreign agent, grows less and less active, and at last ceases to put forth any effort. Just as a strong arm put in a sling and given no exercise becomes weak and useless, so the continual Lubrication of the Internal Organs by Mineral Oils will surely weaken and reduce the flow of Bile. It destroys the natural movement of the bowels, because it supersedes the flow of the Bile, and, therefore, the taking of Liquid Paraffine in any of its forms is a source of future danger to anyone so foolish to be carried away by this most unfortunate fad. Again, there is an exceedingly important feature in connection with the taking of Mineral Oil in the system, which many have never given a thought to, and undesirable results are certain to follow if this practice is continued. Is there any doubt that the cells of the stomach through which we draw the elements of nutrition, also draw and absorb into the system this mineral oil, ? There is no doubt of this at all, and also the walls of the intestines which are covered with the Lubricant, absorb this Oil as well. The entire Internal System is, therefore, absorbing mineral properties foreign to the Human System— properties that cannot help, sustain, or nourish the body. Is there any Medical Authority who values its reputation who will say this is a wise or safe course to continue ? fe To put it as clearly as possible, the Liver can be compared to a big sponge full of holes. It becomes covered over with a slimy substance, and these holes or ducts, from which the Bile flows, become stopped up, consequently the Bile is forced back into the system, producing two direct results : (a) a derangement of the entire system, and (b) Constipation, because the Bile cannot act on the waste matter in the Intestinal Canal, and it remains in the system. This is what is commonly known as Torpid Liver. Something is wanted to get at the cause— something that will act on the Liver and open up these ducts. Not something that will simply carry off the waste in the system, leaving it in just the same state to repeat over again just what has taken place. No poisonous mineral product will take the place of the Bile given each human being by an All-wise Creator to carry the waste matter out of the system, and aid in the digestion and assimilation of our Food. People resorting to this mineral oil— either in ignorance or not, and practically saying we have no further use for the Bile, we have something to relieve Constipation, that is all we care —will pay for their ignorance or impudence in thinking they can improve on the Creator's work. Sometimes Nature only requires a little assistance to get over an obstruction, and if something is used to merely give that assistance and not usurp all Nature's functions, and take the entire operation out of Nature's hands, then valuable help is being rendered. This is where the invaluable properties of Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills are apparent. They do not usurp Nature's function's, destroying all their natural activity, but when Nature needs help to carry its often too heavy burden, caused by overeating and drinking, then Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills assist Nature., They acton the stomach, and, above all, on the Liver, causing the stopped-up ducts to release the flow of Bile that has been withheld. It is this flow of Bile that causes the bowels to act, and any remedy that ignores this fact is causing damage to the great human mechanism. It is the constant and regular flow of Bile that aids in the digestion and assimilation of food, and when this flow ceases from any cause the system at once is affected throughout, and Constipation, of course, the inevitable result. For nearly a century Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills have been in use as a remedy for Liver Ailments. They get at the cause. They open the ducts, and allow the bile to flow, aiding and assisting Nature, not' in any degree superseding or weakening the natural functions. A pill occasionally produces regularity and good health, and, with reasonable care regarding overtaxing the digestive organs with either food or drink, a healthy condition can be maintained. This is the secret of good health in man woman, and child, and there is no getting away from it. ' ] Any fad that is based on the principle that it can take the place of the Bile is a fraud and a danger, and should be speedily put where it belongs—back into the oil tank for lubricating machinery, , not into the human system. • ■„_-■■,„■-,-,*-,- -,_„ * ©
