SUPPLIES FOR PILGRIMS.
A Simla (India) advice daied 11th May states: — "It will be rememiierod that last March, in consequence of the high-handed action of the Turkish authorities in Jeddah in seizing a cargo otf food supplies intended for tho use of pilgrims in the Hedjaz, the Government of India wore Teluctantly compelled to stop the export of such food supplied from India to Jeddah. It has now boon brought to tho notico of His Majesty's Government that this stoppage of supplies to the Hedjaz is causing distress amongst pilgrims and innocent residents of tho Hply Places. In spite, therofore, of the risk of such supplies being again misappropriated by tho Turkish authorities, and contrary to the usage of war, Hja Majesty's Government havo. out of consideration for tho wants of pilgrims and innocent residents, a.gain authorised the export fiom India to Jcddah of supplies sufficient to meet those wants."
