WAS NEVER. ARRESTED. (Received June 24, 10 a.m.) '" . PARIS, 23rd June. The newspaper Liberte states :—": — " The Pop© said, ' You will be astonished to hear that Cardinal Mercier was never arrested. He has been able to move freely about his diocese. I have received a letter from General yon Biasing, saying that he will repress with the greatest energy any acts of violence against churches and ministers of God.' "
