r (IT (JOT SPECUJ. itEPORTBB.) The principal feature of the National Dairy Show is the competition between the dairy companies throughout New Zealand in the export butter classes. This year the competition was very keen ; as the remarks of the Dairy Commissioner, which are given below, indicate. The entries also were good. The judging is done at Wellington by the Government graders, under the direction of Commissioner Cuddie, the exhibits being sent forward prior to the Show for that purpose, and in some cases _ having to submit to a lengthy freezing and storage test. Class 1, Box of Butter, suitable for export. — The conditions in this competition are that all exhibits scoring 94^ points or over each receive £10, and the butter-maker of the factory securing highest points receives a gold medal. The factory scoring most points receives a challenge cup valued at 25 guineas, presented by Messrs. Weddell and Co., London, This year, six factories scored 94£ points and over, and divided £50 between them. Awahuri Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd., secured 95 points (manager, Mr. C. J. Parlane) and won the special prizes.
