The Hon. Jamee Allen has received a cable message stating that the No. 1 Stationary Hospital has reached another stage of the/ journey— "AH well." The Mayor of Lower Hutt (Mr. H. Baldwin) has received a petition from over seventy ratepayers of the Hutt re* questing him to call a public meeting- to consider the advisability of the affairs of the Hutt River being taken over by the Lower Hutt Borough Council. Mr. Baldwin has accordingly called a meet* ing for Tuesday evening next. The river is at present under the jurisdiction of the Hutt River Board, and it is hoped that a considerable saving will be .effected by the absorption of the boa-rd by th© council. A former member of the New Zealand , Times reporting staff, Mr. F. J. Tliomp* son, is reported missing at the Dardanelles. Mr. (Thompson had taken part in the early fighting on 'the peninsula with the now famous Third Australian Brigade.
