DE WET SENTENCED SIX YEARS' IMPRISONMENT.
FINED TWO THOUSAND POUNDS. (Received June 23, 8.10 a.m.) LONDON, 22nd June., De Wet has been sentenced to six years' imprisonment and fined, £2000 on the charges of treason in which he wa-s found guilty. ACTUATED BY DEEP RELIGIOUS CONVICTIONS. (Received June 23, 9.30 a.m.) BLOEMFONTEIN, 22nd June. De Wet was acquitted of any intention to join the Germans. After judgment was delivered De Wet informed the Judge that he was actnated by deep religious convictions.
